Indy100 stories are selected by upvotes from readers therefore, a popular story to be featured recently is the Stephen Hawking on Epstein’s island story. The Guardian however, stories are published based on what the newspaper chooses to print. This means that, while a story based on the recent updates to the Epstein case was published, it doesn’t necessarily focus on Hawking, but on all of the new characters that have entered the story. The Indy500 article also focuses on the internet culture/meme side of the story, rather than the real world implications of the Epstein case, while it initially lays out the basics, the article soon devolves into talking about the ‘disrespectful’ nature of memes about Hawking. The Guardian article, on the other hand, contains information on most of the key figures recently implicated with Epstein: David Copperfield, Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, etc. Instead of talking about the online reaction to Hawking, the Guardian article just provides a short section on him, discussing the key points surrounding his situation. Indy100 almost certainly caters to the more online, younger generation with the inclusion of the voting system, and with discussion about online culture, whereas the Guardian, as an older news outlet almost certainly caters to a more traditional/slightly older audience.
