The Nightlife of Elephant and Castle, in the Daytime

These images show some of the popular nightlife destinations around Elephant and Castle, but without the business of the night or (some of) the life. You may not think there’s much near an area that could be considered a glorified roundabout, but Elephant and Castle undoubtedly has some offerings. I will try and explain the quality of each one with lack of attention to detail or any sort of rating system.

The Wetherspoons can be seen as not having much interesting about it aside from its convenience and cheap prices. Though these also currently doesn’t exist as it is being refurbished. Ultimately rendering it the most defunct nightlife location in the area. The toilets also take about 25 minutes to get to and that’s if you’re running at full pace. I have never waited under 10 minutes for what is ultimately below mediocre food here, though, if you get that weird craving for Wetherspoons food like I do sometimes, then go, maybe?
Corsica Studios tucked under the train station doesn’t look like much in the daytime, but at night becomes alive with the sound of techno and, to be honest, quite strange people in the best way possible. I wasn’t much of a fan of this place, though I did go straight after a shift at a bar round the corner, so maybe I’d need to go in with a different outlook. The place is thumping, a bit scary, and the toilets are no-mans land, enter at your own risk.
The student bar at London College of Communication may not have easy access to anyone who isn’t a UAL student, but for those who are, it offers ‘pretty cheap beer to be fair’ according to a student at the university. The bar features a trendy modern design inside, with classical pub elements such as a pool table that’s annoyingly always taken, alongside neon beer-branded signs. I would argue that the beer isn’t really that cheap, but that’s London for you, I guess.
Ministry of Sound is easily the most well known club in the area bringing people from even outside of London to enjoy poor quality music I’ve heard from personal experience. It’s not nice to look at on the outside, and not nice to look at on the inside either. I’d almost rather visit the UK Power Networks building near it. Although, if you like a bit of house and strangers staring you down for hours on end, I could possibly recommend it, they also have an upcoming Basement Jaxx performance, which is undeniably pretty cool.
The Elephant and Castle Pub is my personal favourite location shown here. I’ve visited it for years, the inside feels cool with an industrial ceiling and a nice garden. The service is charmingly mediocre. One of my friends (a previous staff member at the establishment) even said ‘jungle was invented above it’ not sure he was telling the truth though as there doesn’t seem to be any information online, or anywhere for that matter.
